After a 12-year career coaching college football, Pastor Dan Hanson sensed it was time to begin a new chapter in his life as a full-time pastor. He resigned from his role as Head Football Coach at Malone University in 2006 and accepted a supporting role at Canton Nazarene. In 2015, he was called to be the Lead Pastor. He has always maintained that to lead well you must know what it is to serve.
Dan is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University and holds two master's degrees in religion and teaching. His wife, Andee, serves as the Middle School Director at Canton Nazarene. They have two adult children, Mac and Marlee
Hope has been a part of worship bands for years and has even written and recorded some original songs. Much of her family is a part of the team as well. Hope spent several years working with YWAM in Toowoomba Australia with a focus on worship and music ministry. You might see her behind a microphone, on the drums, or strumming a guitar.
She is currently serving as our interim Worship Leader, and we are thankful for her talent and passion for the team and for the success of weekend worship services
Jimmy came to our church in December of 2017. He has spent the last 18 years ministering to youth and families and enjoys the challenges and mile markers that come with it. He has felt his call since he was a child and has been pursuing it since allowing God to lead him wherever he is needed. Jimmy holds a Bachelors in Religion from Trevecca Nazarene University and continues to pursue classes.
Jimmy grew up in Vienna, Ohio and married his high school sweetheart, Megan, and they have 3 growing children: Jude, Caden, and Kara.
When he was in high school, Josh felt God calling him to a career of spiritual leadership, and he has been working to pursue it ever since.
He is continuing his education in Pastoral Ministry while serving full-time here at Canton Nazarene. His gifts of creativity and teaching allow him to make a fun, goal-oriented environment for your Child's development. In addition to children's ministry, Josh creates graphics and videos and runs our digital campus.
When he isn't in church, Josh enjoys spending time with his wife Hannah and their dogs or experiencing the great outdoors.
YOUTH MINISTRY INTERN
Julia is currently enrolled at Malone university and is studying Youth Ministry. She currently works with our KidzChurch team and serves as both a Small Group leader and teacher.
Julia is naturally gifted at working with kids and teenagers and uses her experiences and personal testimony to share wisdom and pour into the lives of others.
Julia is a Majorette for the Malone Marching Band and plays percussion in the Concert Band. She has a bright future in ministry ahead of her.
With volunteer experience working with theaters, performing arts camps, and multiple churches, Zach is equipped to oversee all of the production teams during our weekend worship services.
When he's not working at the church, Zach likes to spend time with his small groups doing Bible studies and having deep conversations.
Zach also enjoys movies, music, and 20th century pop culture memorabilia.
DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS INTERN
Elayna, known to many as Laynee, has been a part of the Canton Nazarene family for most of her life. Once a student in the Youth Group, Laynee now serves as a volunteer working with our teens on Wednesdays.
Laynee runs Weekend Worship Livestreams, takes photos and videos for special events, and helps run Canton Nazarene's social media accounts. As our church goes through changes and continues to grow our digital ministry, Laynee is a valuable team member.
